The Performing Arts Department at Woodlands Academy offers a wide range of instrumental lessons for students of all ages and levels starting at beginner right through to masterclass.
We currently offer lessons on the following instruments:

Woodwind (Trumpet, Saxophone, Clarinet)
Strings (Violin, Cello)
Brass (Trumpet)
Piano / Keyboard
Electric Guitar/Acoustic Guitar/Flamenco/Classical Guitar
Bass Guitar
Drum Kit
Band lessons

Our groups/lesson fees per term are as follows:

(32 lessons to be delivered over the 3 Terms/full school year)                               
(Cost divided equally/per student)

Students whose families are on Income Support and are registered for free school meals are given tuition at the concessionary rate of £50.00 per term.  This excludes Year 10 Music GCSE students due to the provision of Band lessons.
Instrumental lessons take place during the school day on a rotating timetable basis. There are 32 lessons spread over the academic year.  All lessons are 30 minutes long and each group are of the same ability in order to encourage peer tutorship and maximize the quality of each lesson.

Band lessons are very popular at Woodlands Academy and involve groups of 3-4 students playing popular songs together. Students learn how to play their instrument whilst working together in a band.  All bands are given the opportunity to perform in live music concerts at school such as our popular show Unplugged.  Year 7 and 8 students who request music tuition are automatically put through the band system unless stated that the student would prefer to play a specific instrument.  If you would like your son to begin lessons at Woodlands Academy please see a member of the Performing Arts Department.  Initial request forms can be requested from the Performing Arts office.
